This position is based in Mountain View, CA.

The area: Operations and IT, Global Infrastructure

When we're not planning and designing our next secret data center, we focus on selecting, negotiating for and acquiring the space, power and networks to expand Google's global reach. Our team works closely with strategic vendors worldwide to support the growth of Google's products and services and to provide the infrastructure that will take the company to the next level.

The role: Financial Analyst, Network Strategic Planning

You will drive cross-functional projects, optimizing of one of the world's most impressive network infrastructures. You will develop fundamental models for network scaling and resource planning strategies. You will collaborate with all organizational levels to optimize planning, forecast, and manage the growth of Google's network capacity around the globe. You will be expected to think critically and strategically about Google as a bandwidth and networking business, and absorb and process insane amounts of technical background and data while guiding the build on one of the most impressive network infrastructures in the world. You will be expected to be equally comfortable proposing financial strategies to the CFO or discussing the technical and financial trade-offs involved in network design and deployment strategies. You will develop an innate understanding of the Google network and underlying economic fundamentals enabling you to quantify and guide the team between reducing operating costs and enabling agility for the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects with competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Develop infrastructure management and operational strategies to optimize use of network resources – create work plans, gather and synthesize.
  • Perform operational forecasting and capacity planning.
  • Identify delivery metrics and drive initiatives to improve the efficiency, quality and cost of inventory management to scale with the growth of Google.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent with emphasis in a quantitative discipline such as finance, economics, statistics, or engineering. In Lieu of degree, 4 years of experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or other postgraduate degree
  • Prior network analytics experience is required. Data centers and/or supply chain analytics experience.
  • Proven capability in effectively managing the product-life-cycle and its financial impacts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills. Clear focus under pressure.
  • Strong customer service focus, with the ability to communicate with highly technical management teams.
  • Demonstrated strong performance in prior roles, with increasing levels of responsibility and independence.
